Colt 1862 Police, .36 caliber percussion revolver with desirable 6 ½” barrel remaining in fine to excellent condition with unique silver mounted original to the period holster, serial number 40501. The barrel shows 95% plus bright and “inky” original blue finish showing just some slight losses at the muzzle, minimal scratches and just beginning age. The cylinder shows 75% to 85% original bright blue that has flaked slightly with natural aging to the exposed metal areas. Thehammer, frame and loading lever show 90% to 95% bright original case hardening with great rainbow hues and good fire. The straps show 30% to 50% original darkened silver plate. The grips show 80% to 90% varnish with some slight edge wear andminor handling marks. All matching visible serial numbers and the interior shows almost no use with a bright bore. The original light brown colored flap holster shows a bottom plug and is very high quality with a silver keeper and tab. The holsteris lined in soft leather and though not marked has a California or Mexican look. Est.: $7500-$15,000
