Colt 1861 Navy, Richards Conversion. S/N 3339, circa early 1870s, .38CF, 7 1/2" barrel, originally nickel, one-piece walnut grips. These conversions were Colt’s way of liquidating remaining percussion revolver parts as soon as they were able to use bored through cylinders without patent infringement. CONDITION: Just touches of nickel left, metal dark, frame and barrel smooth, cylinder and ejector tube have pitting, barrel assembly and cylinder serial numbers obliterated, all others match, lanyard hole in backstrap, grips heavily worn with chips at toe on both sides, lots of use wear. Being sold to benefit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum's Program and Acquisition Funds.
