Colt 1855 Root's Patent Model 2 Spurtrigger Percussion Pocket Revolver, #22757, .28 cal., 3.5'' octagonal barrel marked on top flat with two-line Colt name and Hartford, CT address flanked by pointing hands, round 5-shot cylinder roll engraved with the ''Log Cabin and Indian Fight'' scene, iconic side-hammer and ball lever catch, unique (for Colt) one-piece wraparound varnished burl walnut grips. Originally with blued and case hardened finishes. Condition is good retaining much of a blued refinish to frame (perhaps over cleaned light pitting), overall light nicks and dings, weak barrel markings and no visible cylinder scene. Grips show overall dings, scratches, shrinkage at backstrap, and chips out at both heels. Action functions (rather unusual for a Root); bore is dark with visible rifling. Est.: $400-$600. (Antique)
