Colt 1855 Root, .28 caliber percussion, first variation, 3-7/16” octagon barrel, full octagon loading lever, standard type barrel address without pointing hands. Blue finish, varnish wood grips, serial #113. Refer Flayderman 5B-064. The pistol remains in good to very good condition with 30-50% original blue mostly remaining on the barrel and drifting on the frame. Scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting with most of the pitting on the cylinder. The cylinder shows Colt’s patent and 20-30% light scene. The varnish wood grips are very good plus with some edgewear, minor dings, mars, and about 80% varnish remaining. The action is good, the barrel address is slightly light but legible, interior good. A good example of the one of the rarest Roots with less than 400 total made. Less produced than a Walker or Paterson, and a key variation. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
