Colt 1851 Navy small guard .36 caliber percussion revolver from gold rush era, serial number 48139. This revolver remains in untouched original condition showing traces of early original blue and case hardenedfinish within a browning patina. There is some scattered light to slightly heavy pitting and erosion. The barrel address is sharp and all visible serial numbers matching. The action is not quite working.The straps show thick silver plate. The cylinder shows 20% to 40% original cylinder scene. The grips show’s 50% to 70% varnish with some wear at the edges and small chips and losses around the bottom edges. This 1851 Navy Colt descended in the family of Paul M. Haynes who was born in 1929 and was in business in the San Gabriel area. The Haynes family were western pioneers and maybe researchable.
