Colt 1851 Navy revolver, .36 caliber percussion, scarce 4-screw cut for shoulder stock variation, with small iron trigger guard and backstrap and sling swivel, serial #74731. The revolver shows single-line Hartford address with British proofs. The Navy remains in good original condition showing a lightly cleaned to grey patina, traces of blue and case hardening in protected areas, some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting, with the heavier erosion occurring the right side of the frame and forward edges of barrel. The cylinder retains 30-50% original cylinder scene with mostly legible engagement dates. The trigger guard and backstrap show 40-60% heavy old original darkened silver plate. The varnish wood grips are good to very good with 75-85% varnish, some marks from attachment of shoulder stock, some wear at the edges, and normal aging. The navy shows a blade and post type front sight dovetailed into the barrel. All matching visible serial numbers, tight action, good interior. A scarce combination of variations having the small trigger guard, cut for stock, swivel, Hartford address, and British proofs. Est: $3,000 - $6,000
