Colt 1851 Navy revolver, .36 caliber percussion, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, frame serial #35. This navy revolver is one of a number that were assembled from replacements or spare parts by Stokes-Kirk of Philadelphia, who purchased the majority of leftover percussion parts from the factory at the turn of the century. S-K sold these arms as surplus up until the wartime era. This Navy shows a near mint barrel with 95-98% bright original blue that was never barrel-addressed. There is just a couple of minor spots and a slight amount of aging on the edges. The cylinder shows British proofs, the number 5979, approx. 50-60% blue, 90% plus cylinder scene. The frame shows US and Colt’s patent with 80-90% bright case hardening, just fading slightly, mostly on the edges of the recoil shield. The backstrap and triggerguard are un-numbered Colt parts without their final polish. The varnish wood grips have been lightly refinished. The hammer shows 90% case hardening. The lever shows 75% case hardening. The small parts and screws show bright original blue. The bore is bright and shiny, and the pistol shows little to no use since assembly. The only numbered
