Colt 1851 Navy revolver, .36 caliber percussion, blue and case hardened finish, period carved ivory grips, London series with iron backstrap and trigger guard, serial #33591. The pistol remains in good to very good original condition showing 10-20% original blue and case hardening mixed in with a drifting brown patina finish. The cylinder shows 30-50% scene and has been lightly cleaned to a light grey with some pitting and erosion in scattered areas, mostly at the front of the cylinder. The cylinder retains all 6 original safety pins. The barrel address is sharp, the engagement dates are partially visible on the front of the cylinder. All matching original serial numbers. The pistol is fitted with period ivroty grips with brass spacer. The grips are beautifully raised carved with a ship’s cannon on the right side. The grips are absolutely genuine to the 19th century and show slight aging, cracks, and yellowing. The grips are slightly undersized but a close fit. The action is good, generally good overall. The grips make the gun and interestingly the cannon is dated 1857 on the breech. Most probably, these grips were fitted by a sailor at sea who had a remarkable ability to
