Colt 1851 Navy revolver, .36 caliber percussion, 4th model with capping groove, serial #21496. The pistol retains considerable blue and case hardening that has been helped with heat and chemicals. The cylinder shows 30-50% original scene. There is some scattered erosion and pinrprick pitting and some areas of slightly heavier pitting on the cylinder. The varnish wood grips are good to very good with 50-60% varnish, some wear at the edges. All matching visible serial numbers, good markings, good interior, action not quite working. There is a name or light initial scratched in the butt that we cannot make out, and some traces of darkened silver on backstrap and triggerguard. There is considerable original finish on this Navy but as mentioned, it has also been helped or ‘stretched’, so we cannot give an accurate estimate of original finish. From the Bernard Braverman Estate. Est: $1,500 - $3,000
