Colt 1851 Navy, .36 caliber percussion revolver, US martially marked, blue and case hardened finish, wood grips, serial #72989. The barrel retains 65-85% military type blue finish with some even aging, thinning at theedges, some minor erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The cylinder has drifted to a brownish patina with traces of blue and is sharp with 90% plus cylinder scene and engagement dates fully legible onedge of cylinder. The frame shows 50-60% case hardening with some visible rainbow colors on left, mostly drifting on right. The hammer and loading lever show 30-50% toning case hardening. The straps show a mellow patina.The grips are very good plus with some storage scratches and slight mars. There is an “S” inspection type stamp on bottom of left grip. No cartouches visible on face of grips. The frame shows a US inspection. Thebackstrap shows a “M” inspection. The cylinder shows an “S” inspection. Triggerguard shows a small “K” inspection with a “6” or “G” stamp. All matching visible serial numbers. Tight action, excellent
