Colt 1849 pocket model with affidavit stating, “This cap and ball Colt Pistol was found with a dead Cheyenne Indian on the Custer Battlefield on the Little Big Horn on June 26th, 1876 the day after the famous Battle by W. D. Fisher and Cut Hand, a Crow Indian who was a relative of Mitch Bouyer, one of Custer’s Crow scouts. Fisher and Cut Hand brought back Bouyer’s body to be buried in the Crow fashion. The serial number is #199673 and was in the W.D. Fisher collection which was housed in Adams Memorial Hall at Dead Wood [sic], South Dakota. It was presented to me by Mr. Fisher on November 24, 1942 and given to Mr. Wm. Steele on June 29th, 1951.” Signed “G. A. Barwig”. Also “Sworn Before Me 6/29/51” and signed by a Notar Public. Further, “Ownership of the above named pistol has this day been transferred to Mr. S. L. Hutcheson of Greenwich, Conn.” Signed “William T. Steele” and witnessed by Notary Public.
