Colt 1849 pocket model, .31 caliber percussion, 6” barrel, small guard, two-line NY address, 5-shot cylinder, grey patina finish, wood grips, serial #79396. The revolver shows a grey to light brown patina finish, scattered light to moderate erosi and surface pitting, some slightly heavier pitting on the rear of barrel and back of cylinder. There are small chips of metal missing at the shoulder of the cylinder. The barrel address is sharp, patent markings good. The grips show an application of thick varnish and small losses at the toes, wear at the edges, and are slightly undersized. The guard was dropped and bent and professionally rounded by a gunsmith during period of use, and shows a nice dark patina. The ramrod screw that holds the plunger has been replaced by a pin long ago. All matching visible serial numbers, old replacement nipples. Traces of original cylinder scene. Est: $400 - $800
