Colt 1849 pocket model 31 cal percussion, 4” barrel, traces of original finish, varnish wood grips, small guard, serial #96656. The pistol shows a 2 line New York address and 5 shot cyl. Strong traces of blue and casehardening remain, perhaps as much as 10%. The markings are good, edges good, some scattered erosion and minor pitting. Approx 50-70% cyl scene, 75-85% varnish on grips with small chip at left toe and normal wear. All matching visible serial numbers, good action and 20% plus darkened silver on back strap and trigger guard. Action works well. A better than average gold rush era pocket model Colt.
