American Civil War era small frame single action percussion revolver cambered for .31 caliber ammunition, manufactured circa 1861. The Colt 1849 Pocket model saw the highest production volume of any American made percussion revolver with an excess of 325,000 manufactured. This revolver features a blued refinish, 4" octagon barrel stamped "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S AMERICA", shortened brass cone front sight, 'v' notch rear sight cut into the hammer lip, smooth thin trigger, knurled hammer spur, non-fluted six-shot cylinder with roll stamped stagecoach holdup scene, loading lever, silver plated brass grip frame and one-piece smooth walnut grip. All observed serial numbers match including those full or in part on the barrel lug, frame, triggerguard, backstrap, loading lever, barrel wedge, cylinder and cylinder pin. Includes a number of screws and small parts in a Dixie Gun Works draw string bag. Revolver retains approximately 75% bluing showing thinning and scattered rust/pin prick pitting. The cylinder scene is less than 10% visible and the silver plating on the grip straps is less that 10% intact with a small amount retained around the front of the trigger guard. The barrel wedge is held in place with very little pressure. Action is sound, the bore is good with some pitting, markings are good and the walnut grip is good with a repair to the toe on the right side. Condition is near NRA Good. ***Antique Firearm***
