Colorado & Utah Explosive Control Tokens. In many coal mines a miner was required to furnish, and pay for, their own explosives and detonating devices. When a miner needed explosives, he was given, or sold, a token with an appropriate "Good For" value, such as "Good For One Stick Powder." This was exchanged where explosives were kept. If he needed detonating devices, he needed to go to a separate location for safety reasons. Most of the issuing companies were in the East or Midwest, but here are tokens from Colorado and Utah.
