Extraordinary color lithograph of a harvester (Les Moissonneurs) by Emile Lassalle d'apres a Leopold Robert painting. Emile Lasalle (1813-1871) was a French School lithographer as well as a portrait and genre painter. He was born in Bordeaux and died in Paris. Lassalle was a student of P. Lacour, participated in the Salon from 1834 to 1869 and is listed in Benezit. The text on the lithograph reads as follows: Leopold Robert, Les Meissoneurs. 15. Etudes d'apres les Grands Maitres, Lithographiees par Emile Lassalle. Paris, publie par Jeannin, Place du Louvre, 20. London, pubd. 20 August 1844 by the Anagliphic Company, 25 Berners St. Oxford St. Paris, publie par Goupil et Vibert boulev. Montmartre 15 et rue de Lancry, 7. Exceptional period coloring (watercolor, gouache and arabic gum). In good used condition with signs of wear as shown.
