Fr. VA-214. Rarely available or even seen in Crisp Uncirculated quality, this 1781 Revolutionary War note is printed by John Dunlap, printer of the first Declaration of Independence Broadside. The PCGS holder has no negative comment. The paper is extremely crisp, clean and fresh in appearance having boldly printed text and two strong rich brown signatures. This note is so sharply printed and crisp, significant traces of original press text embossing remains within the fresh original paper. Rarely are notes of this issue seen fully Uncirculated. Only 2,760 notes of this Thirty Five Dollars denomination were printed. Issue is not priced above Extremely Fine in Eric Newman’s reference “THE EARLY PAPER MONEY OF AMERICA” on page 455. This exact note (now housed in a different PCGS holder) was previously Ex: EAHA Auction of April 19, 2013, Lot 476, where it sold for $2,420.
