Virginia Currency
Large Size Format May 3, 1779 VA. One Hundred Dollars
Treasury of Virginia. May 3, 1779. One Hundred Dollars / Thirty Pounds Dual Denomination Note. Large Size Format. Fine.
Fr. VA-170. This circulated larger format size, Dual Denomination, Revolutionary War period note is paid as either $100 or 30 Pounds. It is well printed in deep black with good margins and the Sailing Ship vignette in the upper left Indent margin design at upper left is mostly printed and visible on the paper. There are some old tape and stamp hinge reinforcements on its blank reverse, primarily along the vertical centerfold. Some internal short splits and pinholes are also present, mostly at the lower portion of the centerfold, along with having some tone and tape show-through. Overall, a representative example is reasonable quality to make it both affordable and collectible.
