April 10, 1778 South Carolina “Sun with Face” Vignette
South Carolina. April 10, 1778. Fifteen Shillings. Rare “Sun with Human Face” vignette type. PCGS graded Very Fine-20.
Fr. SC-150. This major Revolutionary War currency type is one of the three highest denominations for this popular South Carolina issue. Each of which are vastly more rare that the more readily available lower denominations. This example is well printed with nice text and the important Sun with Human Face vignette being nice and the human features clear. There are some central splits, tears and repairs noted on its holder. The blank reverse is completely free of any typical period notations and bears the signatures of Henry Crouch and John Neufville, Jr. Overall, this note has pleasing eye appeal with a bold appearance for display.
