Rare Engraved by Paul Revere June 20, 1775 New Hampshire Six Shillings Note The Finest PMG Certified
Colony of New Hampshire. June 20, 1775. Six Shillings. Copperplate Note Engraved by Paul Revere. Due Date of December 20, 1776. Backed and reconstructed. PMG Net graded Fine-12.
Fr. NH-128. This extremely rare “Key” New Hampshire type was engraved by Paul Revere on a Copperplate and printed in bold black on original, period laid paper. Only 3,000 notes were issued of which there were three distinct types, having three different “Due Dates” for the years 1776, 1777 and 1778. Thus only about 1,000 of this “1776” due date printed type were emitted.

There are several typical deft sealed fold splits present. The signature of Nicholas Gilman as Receiver General for the Treasury, as well as E. Thompson, are well written in rich brown ink. This issue also carried a 6% Yearly Interest. Having a Due Date of December 20, 1776 it would have only had about six months to circulate, until it was to be turned back in to the Treasury for interest to be paid and the note itself then redeemed and destroyed.

This note is one of only three examples of this extremely rare Paul Revere Engraved New Hampshire issue that is PMG Certified and is the Single Finest PMG Certified June 20, 1775, Six Shillings.
