Pennsylvania. March 10, 1769. Two Shillings. Plate D. “Employment of the Poor in the City of Philadelphia” Issue. Conservation. Very Fine.
Fr. PA-140. This historic theme Pennsylvania note is far above average. A special 1769 issue specifically for, “Relief and Employment of the Poor in the City of Philadelphia.” This note has a even circulated appearance. It is uniface in design with three signatures; Stephen Collins, Luke Morris, and James Penrose. There are some centerfold conservation with reinforcement seen on the blank reverse which remains otherwise clean and free from notations. We sold a PMG Certified VF-25 in our auction of December 6, 2013, Lot 348 for $1,090.
