Gem Uncut Full Double Sheet of Ten January 18, 1777 Middle-Ferry on Schuylkill Pence Issue
Pennsylvania. January 18, 1777. Middle-Ferry on Schuylkill. Complete Uncut Double Panel Sheets of Five Pence Notes Each. 3d, 4d, 5d, 6d & 9d. All Superb to Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
This impressive Full Uncut “Double” Pane Sheet is sharply printed back and face, the two note panes of Five themselves each being printed upon one side. Within the fine quality laid period paper of these two panes of notes is a unique watermark within the paper with a large illustration of an iron Farm Plow above the legend reading “Work & Be Rich” as made. There is significant original Press Text Embossing retained in the crisp paper, attesting to its superior originality. Each panel consists of the full Five Denomination Set comprising this entire issue; 3d, 4d, 5d, 6d & 9d. All of the notes in this Uncut Sheet are completely original and unissued. This vertical double sheet has one faint fold within the selvage between the two panes, far away from any note and a handling crease just touching the extreme outer corner tip of one 6 pence note, otherwise each individual note is Superb to Gem Crisp Uncirculated. We sold a similar Double Sheet in our EAHA Auction of December 1999, Lot 495 which brought $2,585. Worthy of a premium being a Uncut Sheet and is excellent for display. (10 notes).
