Paul Revere Engraved Revolutionary War “Sword in Hand” December 7, 1775 Massachusetts Minuteman Design Note
Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. December 7, 1775. Three Shillings & Four Pence. Paul Revere Engraved “Sword in Hand” Issue. PCGS graded Fine-15.
Fr. MA-179. This scarce and highly popular Revolutionary War "Sword in Hand" note is of an odd low denomination which is rarely available. The front and back are both very well centered, even in circulation, well detailed for the grade having some deft conservation, some sealed splits including at center for which the holder notes restorations. The reverse design Massachusetts “Minuteman” is displayed with his Sword in Hand and is particularly pleasing. This issue also showing him holding a copy of the MAGNA CHARTA, instead of the re-engraved later post-Independence version, where he is holding the Declaration of Independence! Extremely popular having been engraved by Paul Revere!
