Gem CU January 6, 1776 “New-York Water Works” Note
Colony of New York. January 6, 1776. Two Shillings. “NEW-YORK WATER WORKS” Issue. Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
Fr. NY-182. This extremely crisp bright note has superior sharp printed text and designs. Significant traces of original Press text embossing remain within the paper, attesting to its originality and freshness. Nicely margined and well centered. Deep red and black printing add to its nice eye appeal. Boldly signed by Andrew Gautier and John H. Cruger, printed by Hugh Gaine. Only 2,500 of these 2 shillings notes were emitted. This crisp clean note has the historic period engraved print of the Water Works Steam Water Pump illustrated upon its reverse.
