October 18, 1776 Paul Revere Engraved “Codfish” Note

Massachusetts State. October 18, 1776. Six Pence. Due date of October 18, 1784. Paul Revere Engraved First “Codfish” Issue. Choice Crisp About Uncirculated.

Fr. MA-225. This first 1776 issued note is far more rare than the second “Codfish” issue of 1778. The signature of “E. Sargeant” is sharply written in rich brown ink at bottom and all of the text and designs are very clear and sharp. A fresh and bright example, having excellent eye appeal. This a most collectable Paul Revere engraved note, dated in the historic first year of our nation’s independence.
