Superb “No Cancel” June 7, 1776 Connecticut One Shilling

Colony of Connecticut. June 7, 1776. One Shilling. No Cancel. Superb Gem Crisp Uncirculated.

Fr. CT-194. This magnificent quality, 1776 issue Connecticut note retains outstanding amounts of its original press text embossing, which attests to its remarkable originality. It is well centered, with four full margins on both sides. The signature of “T Seymour” and the serial number are clear and easily readable, written in colorful red ink. This note appears as fresh and vivid as the day it was printed. The black print has outstanding eye appeal upon the bright, fresh white laid paper. This current example appears equal or slightly finer in its quality to the Newman plate note illustrated on page 112, which is listed at $800 in Ch. CU, no higher grade(s) present. Very rare, and literally “unimproveable” in this suberb quality and having never received any cancel. An great opportunity for Connecticut currency specialists and Colonial Currency connoisseurs.
