Colonial Notes Printed by B. Franklin
Outstanding Quality January 1, 1756 Pennsylvania Printed By Benjamin Franklin Issue Twenty Shillings Note
Province of Pennsylvania. January 1, 1756. Twenty Shillings. Plate A. “Printed by B. FRANKLIN” Issue. Choice Crisp About Extremely Fine.
Fr. PA-76. This historic, boldly printed 1756 issue “Printed By B. FRANKLIN” Pennsylvania Colonial note is very clean and even in light circulation. Both the face and back sides are well printed. The two of the signatures of George Okill and William Vanderspiegel are readable. There is some conservation while the vivid sharp legend “Printed By B. FRANKLIN” is boldly printed on the lower reverse. The Twenty Shillings denomination is both the highest and having the least number of notes printed. This very special example is nearly the equal to the Newman Plate specimen illustrated for this issue, found on page 337. The Finest Certified by PMG is graded Very Fine-20, being significantly lower in quality. This example is remarkable with great eye appeal, in comparison. An important, lovely example of Benjamin Franklin’s printing from his famous press in the Philadelphia print shop.
