January 1, 1756 “Printed by B. Franklin” Fifteen Shillings Pennsylvania Note Tied As The Finest PMG Certified

Province of Pennsylvania. January 1, 1756. Fifteen Shillings. Plate B. “Printed by B. FRANKLIN” Issue. Split repairs. PMG Net graded Very Fine-20.

Fr. PA-75. This is an outstanding 1756 “Printed by B. Franklin” Fifteen Shillings Pennsylvania note. It is perhaps the finest example of this issue to be offered at auction, from that famous Philadelphia printing press, since the John J. Ford, Jr./Boyd Collection was offered. In that sale, notes of this caliber were hammering in a range from $4,500 to $5,000. This current note is nicely well centered on both its face and back. It has impressive overall eye appeal for this 1756, or any Benjamin Franklin printed issue. The text and designs are sharp and clear, with the reverse “Nature Print” leafs imprint strong, “Printed by B. Franklin” on the reverse is distinct. All three signatures are present, along with the serial number. Tied as the Finest PMG Certified.
