Colonial Coinage/Vermont Coppers: PCGS-Certified Rare Ryder-31 Vermont Copper
1788 VT Copper, George III Head Facing Right, Ryder 31, PCGS graded Fine-12. A Rarity-5 variety and on many collectors' want lists. This piece displays significant detail of Very Fine, a nice mix of rich tan and black colors on typical, slightly porous surfaces. The reverse die is rotated approximately 30 degrees counterclockwise and the date is almost off the planchet. This variety usually comes pretty "rugged," which means that this is actually a rather pleasing example for the variety. Certainly one of the Finest examples of this important variety to be certified by PCGS and it actually appears sharper in overall detail than the recent Bowers, Hinkley Sale Lot #2415 at over $7,000. Our piece currently being PCGS certified.
