(Colonial America) Original pamphlet, "Liberty Described and Recommended", a sermon preached to the Corporation of Freemen in Farmington, Conn, at their meeting on Sept 20, 1774, 21pp, printed by Eben, Watson, Hartford, 1775. In part, "...To affect and maintain the cause of Liberty, is far from being peculiar to the British colonies in North America...our venerable Ancestors fought and found it in this western world...some of them even died, in defence of the sacred rights of Liberty...as Liberty is excellent...so slavery and bondage is terrible...a total ignorance of all moral objects..." A significant printed anti-slavery pamphlet. It is considered by some to have been the driving force in changing public opinion in the New England colonies regarding slavery. Disbound.
