Collins, MT oak post office cabinet, 2 clerk windows, 70 + mail boxes, all original. Collins, an early RR town, is in Teton County, MT, north of Great Falls, near Dutton, MT. Collins was once a station on the Great Falls & Canada Railroad, a narrow gauge line that ran between Great Falls and Lethbridge. It now a siding on the BNSF line north of Dutton. Collins was named for either Timothy Collins (a director of the Great Falls & Canada Railroad) or Elizabeth Collins (the “Cattle Queen of Montana”). A post office was active at Collins from 1891 to 1893 and from 1903 to 1961 and then operated as a rural station of the Dutton post office until 1963.
