This is an excellent hand crafted saddle by Dale Moore in Belgrade, Montana. The saddle is made in the exact likeness of the exceedingly rare (and considered one of the greatest saddles ever made) J.S. Collins. J.S. Collins opened a saddle shop in Omaha, Nebraska in 1864; Laramie, Wyoming in 1872; and Miles City, Montana in 1876. Collins copied the Cheyenne roll from Frank Meanea of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Collins saddles were considered some of the best in the mid to late 1800’s. This Collins saddle was built in the fall of 2004 by Dale Moore, Reid Flatten, and Blaine Tucker in Belgrade, Montana. The saddle is the exact same as the famous and desirable 1870’s Collins saddle. The saddle is a half seat with front jockeys. The tree is a Weatherly that is almost exact to the tree Collins used. The saddle shows wonderful condition and is appears to have not been ridden. The seat is 15". The piece shows impressive craftsmanship with wonderful tooling across the entire saddle. This is from the Dale E. Moore Collection in Belgrade, Montana. Dale started and runs the Montana Horseman Saddle Building School. Saddle has a 12" seat. Box measurements (shipping measurements) are 24 1/2"L x 16"W x 15"H. Retails over $4,500.
