B) Manufactured circa 1904 as a rod bayonet rifle and was later converted. The barrel is marked "S A/flaming bomb/05" and does not appear to have been set back. The rear sight has the early .30-03 2,400 yard leaf with silver accents. The bolt has the steel lot code "C 8" stamped on the underside of the safety lug. Straight grip stock with grasping grooves, spliced in rod bayonet cutout, "G" stamped on the bottom of wrist and smooth buttplate. The handguard does not have spring clips or a sight notch cutout. With a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1905 bayonet dated 1906 and a leather covered scabbard marked "R.I.A./1911/H.E.K.".

Stock: walnut
Guage: 30-06
Finish: blue/parkerized

Good as assembled and partially refinished. The barrel and receiver have traces of the original finish with a smooth gray/brown patina. The rear sight base retains 70% of the olive green parkerized finish. The trigger guard retains 50% of the dark green parkerized finish. The bolt is a later replacement. The stock is good as sanded with no cartouche or proof visible. There is a sliver missing from the front left of the forearm and scattered dings and scratches. The handguard hump has been sanded down. Mechanically needs work as safety does not easily engage. The bayonet is very good and the scabbard is good.
