Collector's Lot of Two U.S. Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifles -A) World War II Production Remington Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet, Scabbard and New Zealand Markings


B) Manufactured in mid 1938 with the barrel marked "S A/flaming bomb/5- 38" behind the front sight. The bolt is stamped "N.S." on the top flat of the bent bolt knob. Mounted on a smooth walnut pistol grip stock with a boxed "S.A./S.P.G." cartouche, two reinforcing bolts, a circled "P" proof on the front of the wrist, the drawing number "D1836" stamped in front of the rear sling swivel and a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor housing a nickel plated brass oiler.

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, 95% plus of the dark green parkerized finish remains with scattered scratches, dings and high edge wear. The stock is also very fine with scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.

A) Manufactured in early 1942 with the standard front and rear sights. The barrel is marked "R A/flaming bomb/1- 42". The bolt is marked with an "R" on the various parts. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, two reinforcing bolts, a boxed "RLD" cartouche on the left wrist, a circled "P" proof on the underside of the wrist, a "C" underneath the proof, "N(broad arrow)Z/8496" on the right side of the buttstock, a smooth steel buttplate with trapdoor (empty) and a handguard with spring clips and sight notch. With a front sight cover, leather claw sling marked "MILSCO/1944", a Springfield Armory Model 1905 bayonet dated 1914 and a fiberglass scabbard.

Fine as partially refinished (stock), 90% plus of the original olive green parkerized finish remaining with some scattered minor dings and scratches. There is some moderate pitting on the middle barrel band under the finish. The heavily sanded revarnished stock is good with some scratches and dents. Mechanically excellent. Bayonet is very good with some scattered cleaned minor pitting. Scabbard is excellent. Sling is very good.
