B) This example was manufactured in late 1928. The barrel is marked "S A/flaming bomb/12-27" behind the standard front sight. The top flat of the curved bolt handle is stamped "L 5". Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, a boxed "D.A.L." cartouche on the left wrist, a boxed "S.A./S.P.G." cartouche on the left grip, a circled "P" proof on the bottom of the wrist and a smooth steel buttplate with a trapdoor housing a nickel plated brass oiler. With a composite leather sling, a Springfield Model 1905 bayonet dated 1906 and a fiberglass scabbard marked "USN/MK 1".

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, 98% plus of the almost black parkerized finish remains with some scattered light scratches and slight high edge wear. There is some pitting and dings under the finish. The stock is very fine with scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. Sling is good. Bayonet is good as parkerized. Scabbard is excellent.

A) Manufactured in late 1937. The barrel is stamped "S A/flaming bomb/12- 36" behind the front sight. The bolt is stamped "N.S." on the top flat of the curved knob. Mounted on a smooth walnut pistol grip stock with two reinforcing bolts, a boxed "S.A./S.P.G." cartouche, a faint "AAK" cartouche on the left wrist, a circled "P" proof on the front of the wrist, a "P" proof partially over the circled "P" proof, the drawing number is stamped in front of the rear sling swivel and there is a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor housing a nickel plated brass oiler. With a leather sling stamped "L-FCO/1918" and "C.O.K.".

Fine as arsenal refurbished, 95% of the dark green parkerized finish remains with some scattered scratches and minor high edge wear. The refinished stock is good as sanded with a restamped "S.A./S.P.G." cartouche, scattered scratches, a few dings and a crack in the handguard. Mechanically excellent. The sling is good.
