B) Standard Arms Model M Slide Action Rifle with Unique Serial Number
This rifle has a two digit suffix added to the original factory serial number. The lower tang is marked with the serial number "1918" along with the number "97" stamped vertically. Among collectors there are three theories to explain the serial number: signifies a repair/rebuild by the Standard Arms factory, a rifle built by Standard Arms Manufacturing Co. from parts purchased from the original firm, or a third party built rifle from components sold after the company's final closing. This type of serial number is rarely encountered.
