Estimate: $1200 - 2000
Manufacturer: Unknown Model: Flintlock Powder Tester
1) The first device was used to test the strength of black powder. The device is not signed or numbered. There is a "C" shaped piece of iron which extends to a disk that is mounted on a bracket under the barrel. The disk is numbered 1 to 10 and the numbers correspond to the amount of force that is discharged when the action is cycled. When the powder is discharged the force coming out of the barrel moves the "C" shaped piece of iron downward causing the disk to rotate, thereby measuring the amount of force. 2) The other has brass construction with a one piece walnut grip. The brass is marked "I. RILEY" on the left side of the chamber below the touch hole and features a light engraving. The rotating scale is graduated from 1 to 8. The grip has a light carving on the back.
