A) Scarce Erma "S/27" Code 1937 Production Model 98K Bolt Action Rifle. Example of a scarce pre-WWII German 98K rifle that was manufactured by the Erma factory in Erfurt. Receiver ring is marked "S/27 / 1937" with three eagle/280 proofs on right side and eagle firing proof on left. Eagle/280 proofs are present on other parts. Stock has the Heer stamp and eagle/swastika WaA655 proofs. With leather sling.

Condition: Very good. The rifle retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is minor pitting on the receiver ring and breech end of the barrel. The wood is very good with numerous minor dings, pressure marks, and scratches. Matching numbers on receiver, barrel, bolt assembly, trigger guard, floor plate, and barrel bands with the buttplate numbered to a different gun.

B) Blade and tangent sights, with "42 / 1938" on top of the receiver ring, 3 "eagle/ 63" proofs on the right, and eagle firing proof on the left, with eagle/WaA63 present, milled components, and open ended muzzle cover. Heer stamp on stock. With leather sling.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with the balance between a smooth brown patina and a smooth gray patina. The wood is good with some minor dings, pressure dents, gouges, and scratches with a some deep gashes and gouges. "YARD" is scratched on the right side of buttstock. Matching numbers on barrel, receiver, floor plate, trigger guard, and barrel bands, with mismatch stock and renumbered bolt assembly.
