A) Very unusual or rare Mukden Arsenal type 44 Carbine. The serial number "600025" indicates a very early production block carbine (number 25) with the first serial number without the series mark. It has the early short type 44 folding bayonet housing, with correct style handguards. However the interesting aspect is we don’t have documentation to support that Mukden Arsenal ever produced this carbine. It has the shrouded inverted "V" and ladder rear sights, with a struck mum not ground and clear model marking on top of the receiver. Left receiver wall has the serial number and "Mukden Arsenal" marking. The bolt is numbered on the underside with three small series marks and "10" with the same mark on the firing pin, and extractor while the top of the bolt handle is numbered "025" as is the cocking knob. Fitted with a folding bayonet and smooth stock with upper handguard, side mounted sling swivels, and flat buttplate. This could be an early production sample of conversion from a Type 38.
BBL: 19 inch round
Stock: hardwood
Gauge: 6.5 mm Japanese
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 600025
Condition: Fine as partially refurbished. The carbine retains 75% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. There is some minor spotting and some scattered minor pitting. The sanded and re-oiled stock is fair with the grip area cracked, a couple long cracks (on handguard and near stock toe) and some minor overall dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is very good.

B) Blade front and short-staff ladder rear sight. The chamber has a ground mum with the "38 Type" model marking remaining. Left receiver wall has the "Kokura Arsenal" marking and the serial number. Bolt and bayonet lug numbered "398", with no dust cover. Smooth stock with a flat buttplate and sling swivels mounted on the side.
