A) Engraved Hopkins & Allen XL No. 5 Spur Trigger Revolver with Ivory Grips. The top strap is marked "HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG CO. / XL NO 5 N.Y. / PAT MAR. 28 1871". Scroll and punch dot engraved frame sides and cylinder with a geometric engraving on barrel, top strap, and back strap. Fitted with smooth ivory bird head grips. The frame under the left grip is numbered "2423" with the number "243" on the barrel, cylinder and cylinder pin.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 90% original nickel finish with some minor flaking and blistering. The slightly undersized grips are very good with some minor scratches. The ivory has aged to an even yellow color with a nice grain pattern. The action functions, needs some work, the hammer doesn't always hold the cock position. The engraving is clear and crisp.

B) The top strap is marked "HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG. CO. / XL. No 4 N.Y. / PAT. MAR. 28, 1871". Matching serial number on frame, barrel, cylinder, cylinder pin, and right grip panel. Fitted with smooth rosewood bird head grips.

Condition: Very good. The revolver has a smooth gray patina with strong amounts of original blue finish retained in the cylinder flutes and traces of blue on the barrel. The grips are fine with the exception of a minor chip missing on the left panel near the frame, wear on the high edges and some minor handling marks.
