A) Mauser "S/243" Code 1938 Dated Model 98k Bolt Action Rifle. Top of receiver ring marked "S/243 / 1938" with drop wing eagle proof on left side and three eagle/swastika 280 proofs on the right. Eagle/280 and eagle/WaW76 proofs are also present on the rifle. Matching numbers on receiver, barrel, bolt assembly, barrel bands, follower, trigger guard, floor plate, and buttplate, with the stock marked with the number "50". With leather sling.

Condition: Very good. The rifle retains 70% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is minor spotting and pitting on the barrel bands, exposed area of the floor plate, and trigger guard assembly, with deep pitting on the buttplate. The wood is good overall showing real wartime use with pressure dents, dings, scratches, and minor chips overall. With an old heavy gouge missing from the right side under the receiver that has been rubbed smooth over the years of use.

B) Top of receiver ring is marked "bcd / 4" and "Mod. 98" on left receiver wall, with eagle firing proofs present. Milled front barrel band with stamped rear barrel band and trigger guard stamped "byf". No visible markings on stock which has a cupped buttplate. With a leather sling.

Condition: Very fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina with minor spotting on the receiver ring. Arsenal repaired/refinished front barrel band. The wood is fine with a couple putty filled repairs showing some loss of material and some minor handling marks. Matching numbers on barrel, rear barrel band, bolt assembly and floor plate.
