Collector's Lot of Two Frank Wesson Superposed Pistols -A) Very Early Frank Wesson Large Frame Superposed Pistol with Sliding Dirk
Approximately 2,000 of this model were manufactured from 1868 - 1880. This example is absent of any markings. The barrels are full fluted with a sliding double edge dirk in the center section. Silver plated brass frame, nickel barrels, spur trigger and bird's head butt with smooth rosewood grips.

Fine as refinished. The barrels retain 98% period replated finish with wear on the edges. The frame has a small area of silver plating and a dark aged patina on the balance. There appear to be a repair in the cut out on the right side of the frame and some residue from an adhesive on the left side. The grips are good with some wear on the high edges, small chips and warping on the edges. Mechanically fine.

B) Frank Wesson Medium Frame Superposed Pistol
Approximately 3000 manufactured from 1868 to 1880. Third Type with full fluted barrels and the one line Wesson legend on the barrel. Serial number marked on the left side of the frame. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, nickel barrel, silver plated brass frame and fitted with smooth rosewood grips.

Fine. The barrels retain 90% nickel finish which has a dull gray appearance, showing scattered minor flaking, pitting and edge wear. The frame retains traces of original silver plating and an aged patina on the balance. The grips are also very good with most of the original varnish remaining and showing some high edge wear, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
