Collector's Lot of Two Ethan Allen Percussion Pistols

A) This is one of an estimated 500-1,000 manufactured circa 1850s as an attempt to produce a pocket pistol with increased firepower (two shots). "ALLEN & WHEELOCK" is stamped between the two rifled barrels. Matching number "572" is stamped on the frame under the left grip, hammer spring, trigger, barrels, and both grips. A single trigger operates both hammers (releasing both hammers individually on two separate pulls).

Condition: Good. The pistol has a mottled gray patina with traces of faded original blue remaining in the protected areas of the barrels. There is some minor flash type pitting. The grips are good with a period repaired right panel missing a minor chip and some minor handing marks. Mechanically fine.
- B) Manufactured circa 1830 to the 1860s this example is without maker markings. The frame has the standard floral scroll engraving. Matching number "53" stamped on the frame under the left grip, barrel underside and hammer spring with the number "55" on the back of the right grip panel.

Condition: Very good plus. The barrel has 25% original crisp blue with the balance a mottled gray patina. The frame is mostly bright with crisp engraving. The grips are very fine with most of the varnish remaining and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
