A) Manufactured in late 1907, the barrel is marked "S A/flaming bomb/2- 07". The bolt has the steel lot code "S" stamped on the underside of the safety lug. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with a boxed "W.E.S." cartouche, circled "P" proof, grasping grooves, a smooth steel buttplate with trapdoor housing a nickel plated brass oiler and a handguard without spring clips or a sight notch. With a Springfield Arsenal Model 1905 bayonet dated 1906 and a leather covered scabbard marked "R.I.A./1907/E.E.B.".

Good, traces of the original blue finish remain with the remainder having a smooth brown patina. The stock is good as heavily sanded with some scattered light scratches, scattered nicks and faint cartouche. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is very good and the scabbard is good.

B) This example was manufactured circa 1911. The top of the barrel is marked "R.I.A./flaming bomb/3- 11" and the underside is marked "M15/P". The steel lot code stamped on the underside of the safety lug on the bolt is "I 11". Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, a boxed "J.S.A." cartouche, a circled "P" proof and a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor housing a nickel plated brass oiler. With a leather claw sling dated 1918, a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1905 bayonet dated 1918 and a canvas covered scabbard.

Good, traces of the original blue finish remain, mostly in the protected areas with a smooth silvery gray patina on the balance. The safety lug on the replacement bolt has a small weld repair. The revarnished stock is very good with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The sling and bayonet are good. The scabbard is very good.
