Collector's Lot of Two Early P38 World War II Manufactures Production Pistols -A) Mauser "byf/42" Code P38 Semi-Automatic Pistol

A) The left side of the slide has the scarce highly desirable "byf/42" marking. The serial number matches on the slide frame and barrel lug. The "Eagle/135" proof is present on the left side of the barrel lug and left side of the frame. The right side of the slide has a firing proof flanked by "Eagle/135" proofs. Fitted with ribbed grips. The "P.38" marked magazine has an "Eagle/135" proof on the spine. Due to production problems all "byf/42" P38 pistols were assembled in 1943 and are in the 1943 serial range which began at 1. When these pistols were assembled, slides with the "byf42" markings were mixed in randomly with 1943 components.
