A) There were 2,000-3,000 manufactured between 1866 and 1878. The barrels are a 22 RF and a 32 RF. The barrels can be rotated to fire either barrel. The barrel flats are marked "AMERICAN ARMS CO . BOSTON, MASS." and "WHEELER'S PAT. OCT. 31. 1865-JUNE 10. 1866". The bottom of the butt is marked "3773".

Condition: Good, the barrels have a generally bright appearance with scattered light pitting. The brass frame has a bright appearance. The slightly undersized refinished grips are good with a small repair on the left grip. Mechanically fine.
- B) Manufactured between 1867 and 1869. The top barrel flat is marked "SOUTHERNER" with the left side marked "MERRIMACK ARMS & M'F'G C/NEWBURYPORT, MASS,/PATENTED APRIL 9, 1867". Fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Condition: Good, the barrel has a bright appearance overall with some light surface oxidation. The brass frame has an untouched aged patina. The grips are very good with some high edge wear and a few small handling marks. Mechanically fine.
