A) First Year Production Colt Open Top Model Pocket Revolver with 2 7/8 Inch Barrel. Manufactured in early 1871, the first year of production. This revolver features the scarce 2 7/8" barrel with an ejector rod mounted on the right side. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address flanked by Maltese crosses. The matching serial number is marked on the butt and bottom of the barrel lug. Brass blade front and hammer notch rear sights, blue barrel and cylinder, niter blue hammer and silver plated brass frame. Fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Condition: Fine. The barrel is a mix of smooth brown patina and original bright blue finish. The cylinder retains scattered (10%) original blue finish mixed with a mottled brown patina. There are some traces of the original silver plating on the frame with an aged patina on the balance. The right grip panel is absent of the upper arched portion, otherwise 90% original varnish remains on the grips with scattered minor dings and dents. Cylinder paw needs adjustment, otherwise the action functions properly. The markings are clear.

B) Manufactured in 1874. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, "22 CAL" on the left side of the frame and the matching serial number is marked on the butt and bottom of the barrel lug. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights, nickel barrel and cylinder, niter blue hammer and silver plated brass frame. Fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Condition: Fine. The barrel and cylinder retain 90% original nickel finish with some flaking on the muzzle end of the barrel and ahead of he cylinder. 50% bright original niter blue remains on the hammer. The frame has been polished some time ago and remains relatively bright. The grips are very good with some high edge wear and chipping of the varnish. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
