A) Manufacturer: Colt Model: #3 Derringer
This factory engraved Third Model derringer is the "high hammer" variation, with the large italicized "-COLT-" on top of the barrel. The top of the barrel has a wedge of scrollwork engraved behind the front sight and a shell pattern at the breech. There is an engraved band at the muzzle along with a wedge of scrollwork on the sides. The sides of the frame are scroll and punch dot engraved. The back strap has the scrollwork at the top with a geometric pattern down the length. The left side of the frame under the grip is marked with the letter "E" above the serial number. Blue barrel, niter blue hammer and trigger and silver plated frame. The smooth ivory bird head grips are numbered to the gun.

Condition:
Fine as refinished. The barrel retains most of blue finish with limited pin point pitting under the finish. The hammer and trigger retain most of the niter blue finish. The frame retains most of the silver plating with some mild thinning along the edges. The grips are very fine with some hairline age cracking (mostly on the left panel) and a gouge near the butt. The ivory has an attractive color and pattern. Mechanically fine.
B) Manufacturer: Colt Model: #1 Derringer
Manufactured from 1870 to 1890. The top of the barrel has the standard two line Hartford address followed by "No. 1" with the factory floral scroll engraving and checkered panels on the grip area. The barrel is numbered to the gun.

Very good. The barrel retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina with some mild pitting. The frame is mostly a bright gray with mild pitting overall. Mechanically fine.
