Collector's Lot of Two Cherry's Sporting Goods Shipped Colt Second Generation Third Model Dragoon Percussion Revolvers with Original Boxes -A) Cased Ken Hurst Master Engraved Gold and Silver Wire Inlaid Colt Third Model Dragoon Revolver with Documentation

A) This revolver was originally destined to be a Garibaldi special edition, but approximately 94 guns left the factory by mistake partially in the white. Cherry's Sporting Goods sent this example to Ken Hurst for embellishment. There is nearly full coverage floral scroll engraving on the cylinder, frame and barrel lug with flourishes of floral scroll engraving on top of the barrel, the sides of the loading lever and on the back strap. The sides of the hammer, the screw heads and the thick side of the wedge have some decorative engraving. There is a gold wire inlaid band at the muzzle, around the outside edge of the barrel lug, around the outside edge of the frame, along the rear edge of the cylinder and on the outside edge of the hammer. There is a silver wire inlaid band around the rear of the barrel, the front of the cylinder and on the recoil shield. The screws and barrel wedge are niter blue. The loading lever is signed "K. HURST". Fitted with a smooth walnut one-piece grip. With a letter from Cherry's Sporting Goods explaining the gun and engraving, a walnut Colt case lined in royal blue velvet, a nipple wrench/screwdriver, an empty cap tin, a two cavity bullet mold, a powder flask and the original box numbered to the gun.

Manufucture: Colt
Model: Dragoon Black Powder Series
BBL: 7 1/2 inch part octagon
Stock:
Guage: 44 percussion
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: GCA1253

Near new as professionally embellished, all of the high polish blue finish remains with only a few light handling/storage marks along with some oxidation on the underside of the forcing cone and top of the cylinder pin. The wedge has some minor marks on the thin side. The casehardened components retain all of the bright fiery case colors. All of the bright nitre blue finish remains on the screws and wedge. The slightly undersized grip is excellent. The case and accessories are excellent with only some minor scattered marks. The box is good with edge wear, creases and tape.

B) This is one of the 94 Garibaldi commemorative revolvers that left the factory partially in the white. This example has not been altered from when it left the factory. With a factory letter confirming the configuration, that it was shipped to Cherry's Sporting Goods on August 14th, 1987 and that there were 94 guns in the shipment. With the original box numbered to the gun.
