A) Excellent Smith & Wesson First Model 38 Single Action Baby Russian Revolver. Manufactured in 1876 and 1877 and often referred to as the "Baby Russian". Barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates and the matching serial number is marked on the butt, barrel latch, top strap under the latch and rear face of the cylinder. Pinned blade front and notch rear sights, all nickel finish with casehardened hammer and trigger.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 95% original nickel finish with a small area of minor pitting on the left side of the front sight and left side under the rib. There is some minor flaking and pitting on the cylinder, mainly in the flutes. There is some scattered light frosting and minor scratches and handling marks. The hammer sides and protected areas retain almost all of the original case colors. The grips are very fine, having faded to an even attractive brown with light handling marks and crisp checkering. The markings remain crisp and clear. There is some slight play in the cylinder, otherwise the action is excellent.

B) Manufactured circa 1868 to 1875. Standard one line address on top of the barrel rib and serial number marked on the butt. Replacement front sight, all nickel finish with casehardened hammer and trigger.

Condition: Excellent. The revolver retains 98% plus original nickel finish with some scattered light frosting and minor scratches and dings. There are some grind marks on the front sight as well as a few dings. The hammer retains almost all of the original vivid case colors. The grips are very fine with 97% original varnish remaining with loss concentrated on the high edges and a few minor chips. The barrel marking remains clear and crisp. There is some slight play in the cylinder, otherwise the action is excellent.
